Abstract:As a meta myth in 20 century's China, the modern Chinese rationalism has a nature of meta discourse or meta tradition, and five radical characteristics, such as rationalization, integration, absoluteness, idealization, and culturelization. It is from the beginning that the modern Chinese rationalism is confronted with two difficulties: One is the historical embarrassment decided by the context of history in China; another is the logical contradiction caused by its own logos of discourse. Therefore, some potential changes, such as the attitude or ideological changes to tradition, enlightenment, democracy, and subject, take place in Chinese mainstream of culture and literature.
