Abstract：The thesis points out that, the coupling of cultural system and ecological environment system is the core of cultural ecology. Cultural ecology, which covers a large ranges, is a compound ecological system about nature, society and economy. At present, it's suitable to make harmonizing the relationship between the human culture and the natural environment as a breakthrough, which should be studied emphatically. What's more, taking the Yangtze river's cultural ecology as an example, this article reveals the study significance of cultural ecology:(1) helpful to understanding deeply the source and character of a certain district's culture. (2) helpful to deepening the recognition to the relation between the human and the nature and exploring the new fields of the district cultural study. (3) helpful to using historical experience for reference, so as to promote regional sustainable development.
