Abstract：This thesis studies the reader's response criticism which has been desolated for a long time and points out that reader's response criticism differs from the one as the subject and method of criticism. Reader's response criticism is called spontaneous criticism, public criticism, oral criticism and gentleman's criticism, which is initiated by literati. It expounds the spontaneity, impressiveness, truth fulness, sharpeness, promptness and popularity of reader's response criticism are the main points and puts special stress on its spontaneity, dialogicness and gentlemanliness. What's more, it also points out some of its disadvantages, the meaning and basis of its existence.
