Abstract：The article, explores, first of all, the western aesthetic theorists' main ideas on the category of sublime in ancient times, and modern times, and especially in post modern times. It points out that their deadly weak point is all their theories are not based on the social practice. And the article, combining with social practice, studies the category of sublime based on the practical aesthetics. It then puts forward that the sublime is a conflicting process in which the conflict between the subject and the object in the world is shown. The sublime is the beauty with movement in which goodness and truth, the subject and the object are united from their great conflicts by which man practices in the world.
