Abstract:State-Society relation and Party-Government relation are two widely used key conceptual categories in political analysis on contemporary Chinese politics. However, these two categories are treated separately in most relevant researches. Based on the paper's recent studies on villager's self-government, especially the conflicts between elected village committees and township governments, the paper argues that there exist some inner relations between the two categories in the context of Chinese politics. These inner relations also reveal some very important characteristics of politics in contemporary China.
