Abstract：In the article, modernity is divided into such three times as the prophase of (or enlightening) modernity, the metaphase of (or ideal) modernity and the anaphase of (or aesthetic) modernity. Further more, the inner relation and tension of the modernity in the three different periods are analyzed and studied in details. And it is demonstrated that the three kinds of modernity inherit, deny and develop each other dialecticly. So it is demonstrated that modernity is the all and the one with contradiction, unification, multiplicity, complexity and richness.
