Abstract:This article argues that political competition has constituted an important content in village elections. Since 1998 when the Organic Law of Villagers' Committee was officially passed, village election competition in rural Zhejiang province has become more and more acute. Consequently, electoral campaigns become a common seen phenomenon during Zhejiang's village elections, which, compared with other provincial-level administrative areas, is outstanding. Finally, the article discusses the implication of electoral campaigns in rural China. As a new phenomenon in rural politics. the study on electoral campaigns in rural China is not only helpful to scholars' understanding of local politics, but also to local governments' guiding and further standardizing village electoral politics. On the one hand village electoral campaigns indicate the increase of election competition, deepening electoral politics; on the other hand an important issue to governments is how to standardize village election campaigns, supplying a fair play environment for all candidates, while to candidates is to learn the art of campaigning.
