Abstract：In the present Chinese characters teaching, the radicals' appellations cause much confusion. Many radicals' appellations, influenced by their popular names, put particular emphasis on not rationales of constructing characters' forms. Hence, misleading often occurs. The author holds that the appellations of 189 radicals in MODERN CHINESE DICTIONARY. Which, to a large extent, classify not only the forms of characters, but also the meaning of characters, standarize the name of each radical rationally and enable learners more aware of the relationship in character's form, pronunciation and meaning.
