Abstract：In the Wuchang Revolt of 1911,rumor played a very important role.Firstly,during the start of revolt,the rumor that the Manzhou government was arresting and killing the soldiers of Han nationality forced most soldiers of Han nationality to join the insurrectionists.Secondly,during the development of revolt,because Manzhou government could not get the support of local gentlemen who were the opinion leaders then,all kinds of rumors eroded its validity more.Although the Manzhou government wanted to get support by expressing rumors,they could not achieved their expected solution because they lost their public reputation.
