Abstract：Zhang Jian,a modern industialist,has undertaken many projects in his hometown, which reflect the characteristic of "harmony".Constructing a people-oriented, harmonious local society consists of the aim of Zhang Jian's running of Nantong;while banlance,harmony and persistence is the core concept of the early "Natong Model".Zhang Jian's harmonious developing views can be generalized as: people-oriented view,co-ordinated view and overall social development view.As a representative of modern scholarly businessman,the inner spirit of Zhang Jian includes not only Chinese traditional culture but also elements of western modern civilization,among which the Confucian viewpoints including the harmonious idea is in the firstplace to control and influence his thought.All of these is the keypoint to expound Zhang Jian's thought and career.In the process of constructing a harmonious society,we can learn many historical lessons from Zhang Jian's running a harmonious local society.
