Abstract：This thesis gives a brief account of investigation and study of modern Chinese village handicraft before the middle-20~(th) century,and analyzes its characteristics.It points out that these investigations and studies transformed from systematic learning to utility,and not only paid close attention to the extensiveness of village handicraft,but also their differences,and combined together with general investigation and meticulous investigation,and made good use of the advanced economic and social theory.These investigations and studies left the first precious historical materials for our thorough study,but we analyze cautiously the different background,methods,periods and targets of each individual investigation when we use these materials.
