Abstract:Wang Yanan accumulated rich experience in running and managing a university on the way of exploring how a university develop excellently and characteristically, which led him to form a unique way of running and managing universities. Firstly, he emphasized universities should progress steadily with politics, that is, politics, adhering to Marxist political stance, the leadership of the Communist Party of China, and the socialist orientation in education, should be put in the first place. Secondly, he advocated universities should stand with academic, that is, universities must emphasize the combination of academic freedom and academic contention, the combination of social science and natural science, and the combination of theoretical exploration and social practice. Thirdly,he focused on the building of characteristics of universities, that is, to develop itself, a university must recognize its situation, giving full play to geographical advantages, resource advantages and team advantages, so as to form its characteristics in running. Fourthly, he implemented a university to be powerful with talents, that is, universities need a brilliant chancellor to distinguish, cultivate and employ talents, in order to create a strong magnetic field for talent gathering. To absorb the construction power of “double first-class” from Wang Yanan's way of university management, we need to fix our soul with politics, establish ourselves academically, strive for excellence with characteristics, and make great achievements with talents.
