Abstract:Knowledge learning plays an important role in the development of students’ physical and mental quality. However, this important role is often amplified and misinterpreted. There are three main misconceptions about the role of knowledge learning in student development in China: equating knowledge mastering to student development, understanding and implementing student development within the scope of knowledge learning, and generalizing the rule of cognitive development into the rule of overall development. These misconceptions are implied in a variety of teaching theories, permeated in daily concepts, and also flooded with teaching practice. Revealing the specific manifestations of the above misunderstandings and the crux of the problems is a key issue that needs to be clarified urgently in the new era to improve the quality of school education and deepen the reform of curriculum and teaching.
