Abstract:The “Shanghai-style” novels in the 1940s not only recorded in details the urban living state under the war, but also reflected the urban ethics and moral problems. Therefore, taking the “Shanghaistyle” novels of the 1940s as the research specimen can deeply analyze the development and evolution of modern urban ethics in China. From three main types of the mortal perspective,livelihood status and egoism, we can closely examine the ethics of daily life, survival ethics and utilitarianism ethics in the urban life of Shanghai, so as to study the historical changes of urban ethics under the background of China’s special period.
