Abstract:Three neutral one-dimensional coordination polymer 1, 2 and 3 [M(C4O4)(C10H8N2)(H2O)2]·2H2O (M=Zn2+ Cu2+ or Cd2+) have been synthesized by H2C4O4 and 2,2’-bipyridine co-ligands. All complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, single crystal X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and UV-vis spectra. All metal ions in the polymers have six coordinate pseudo octahedral structures with two pyridyl nitrogen atoms, two squarate oxygen atoms and two waters. The complexes with d10 metals exhibit a strong emission band with the maximum intensity at 374.5 nm and 464.5 nm. The third-order nonlinear optical (NLO) property of the Cu2+ complex was also investigated by single beam Z-scan techniques.
