Analysis and performance of axial flux ironless permanent magnet synchronous motor

Abstract:An axial flux ironless permanent magnetic synchronous motor (AFIPMSM) is introduced in this paper. The electromagnetic torque of AFIPMSM with concentrated-coil overlapping windings is evaluated based on theoretical analysis. The magnetic field distribution and other quantities of performance were studied by 3-D electromagnetic finite-element analysis (FEA), and the results were compared with the conventional motors with iron core. Experimental results verified the analysis values and the desired performance.
