Abstract:In this paper, we have investigated the time evolution of the atomic populations of a cascade three-level atom interacting with the two-photon field by means of non-relativestic QED. We verified that the expectation values of the atomic populations exhibit the periodic collapse and revival effect. The reason that the periodic collapse and revival effects of the photon-atom coupling system have different properities in different conditions is also discussed, and the role of the interatomic state is pointed out.
