Abstract:According to the cluster analysis and principle of classification, authors believe that Compositae may be divided into three groups on the base of 31 characters. The first group contains only one tribe, Lactuceac; the second group includes four tribes, Vernonieae, Arctotideae Cynareae and Mutisieae. Within this group, Vernonieae clustered with Arctotideae correlation coefficient 0.078, and Mutisieae clustered with Cynareae, -0.051. The third group includes other eight tribes, of which Heliantheae clustered with Helenieae, 0.036; Senecioneae with Claenduleae, 0.01; Eupatorieae with Astereae, -0.130; Inuleae with Anthemideae, -0.178, respectively. The trend of Compositae evolution is probably radial. It is doubtful that there is one most primitive tribe in Compositae. By the distance coefficient, authors try to established a model of relationship and arrangements between tribes of Compositae.
