Abstract:We examine the stability of geometrically thin and opticallythick accretion disks to axisymmetric nearly radial perturbations.We derivea general dispersion relationship.These general results are applied for variousstandard disk models.Our results indicate that the axial component of wavevector of perturbation can lead to a new instability.
