Abstract:45 antimicrobial-producing strains had been isolated from soil by spreading plate with high-concentration suspension of microbial cell. A strain of them which has high antimicrobial activity was selected to be studied. The strain was identified as Bacillus bingmayongensis by cell morphological characteristics, physiological and biochemicl experiments and 16S rDNA sequence analysis, and it was named Bacillus bingmayongensis HS-15. Point planting method and plate confrontation method were used to study the antibacteria and antifungal activities respectively. The results showed that HS-15 has broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity, effective against gram-positive bacteria, gram-negative and fungi. The fermentation broth has the best inhibitory activity against Staphylococcus aureus when HS-15 was cultivated at 28 ℃ for 20 h. The antimicrobial activity had not change after the treatment by a dialysis bag, while disappeared after the treatment with trypsin and Protease K. These indicated that the inhibition substance might be protein. This study enriched the resources of microbial strains producing antimicrobial substances and provided a theoretical basis for the development of natural preservatives.
