Abstract:The evaluation of the quality of urban human settlements is an important foundation for improving the quality of urban human settlements and promoting the healthy and sustainable development of cities. In this paper takeing Hubei Province as the research area and selecting 18 indicators from three aspects of urban human settlement quality, production quality and ecological quality, an urban humansettlement environment quality evaluation index system is constructed. The entropy weight TOPSIS method and the geographic detector model are used to analyze the spatial-temporal differentiation and contributing factors of urban human settlement environment quality in 17 cities and prefecture in Hube Province from 2013 to 2018. The results are shown as follows. 1) During the study period, the quality of urban human settlements in Hubei Province and the quality of its life, production and ecological environment subsystems have been continuously improved, and the quality of urban human settlements in various cities and prefectures has been narrowing. 2) The quality of urban human settlements in Hubei Province has been improving in terms of space, presenting the distribution characteristics of “core agglomeration and local contiguousness”. During the study period, the human settlement environment quality has improved at the fastest rate in western Hubei, followed by central Hubei, and eastern Hubei is the smallest. 3) Per capita investment in fixed assets, total retail sales of consumer goods per capita, urbanization rate, number density of industrial enterprises above designated size, and highway mileage density are the areas that have improved the most during the study period. However, as time evolves, the quality of urban human settlements has improved. The focus will shift from a few core factors to multi-factor co-construction.
