| On the Two Trends of British Indian Women''''s Movement |

Abstract On analyzing the two trends and their relationship which appeared in British Indian women's movement for striving for women's social rights which arose since the early 20th century, this thesis brings into light the reason why the position of the Indian women have not been thoroughly improved and demonstrates the powerful negative influence of the traditional ideology embodied in the religious culture in the process of the modernization of Indian society.
