| A New Approach to the Classification of Turning Complex Sentences by Semantic Relationship |

Abstract It is generally believed that sub clauses in the turning relationship of a complex sentence are opposite to each other,while this paper does not think so. After probing into this issue, the paper argues that between two clauses of a turning complex sentence, besides the relationship of opposition,there are relationships of difference and restriction besides relationship for opposition. The relationship of difference also contains the relationships of contrast and setting off.
