Abstract As one of the famous scholars of Neo-Confucian School, Hu An-guo took an important position in the field of politics and the academy in the period from 1197 to 1138. His political attitude was inclined to side with Yuan-you faction and took part in many political activities in the reign of Qin and Gao Emperors. In academy, he devoted his life to Chun-qiu, the book which influenced his political and acdemical activities greatly, and he strongly held the political ideas that monarchs should suppress ministers to stabilize their positions and criticized Wang An-shi's reform using Chun-qiu Zhuan as a political and acdemical means and made a special contributions to the development of Neo-Confucian School as well.
