Abstract Russian and Chinese idioms, whose connotation and denotation differ greatly belong to different language systems. It results in the barriers on understanding and the difficulties in research, translation and communication. Making an attempt on a sketched, but systematic comparison and analysis on the basic concepts, major schools and their main ideas, this article aims at making clear the nature as well as solving the puzzles and obstacles.
