| On the Defensive Soldiers of Late Qing Dynasty |

Abstract This thesis studies that the situation of the defensive soldier in the late Qing Dynasty and its evolvement. It explains that the defensive soldier then was a very important part of military forces and played key role in both external wars and regional public security. With its development, there appeared in each province the military organs as well as the logistic institutions, which reveals the extensional power of the provincial governors in the late Qing Dynasty.
