Abstract There has been a lot of new nature during the process from tradition to modern time in Chinese publication. The new nature is the content of modern publication. This thesis probes into the process of publishing modernization in multi dimension, with the analysation on the technical material base of machine civilization, the transformation of intelligentsia, the intervention of new publishing ideas and the change from ellite culture to mass culture. And it draws a conclusion that the direction of Chinese publishing modernization is identical with the process of Chinese social modernization.
