Abstract The problem of intentionality, one of the five front issues in contemporary Philosophy of Mind, is not only regarded as one of the unique characteristics of mental phenomena, but the basis for social cognition. This paper analyzes some related concepts, and then probes into the functions of intentionality in its understanding, interpretation and evaluation of behavior.
