| Gender and Democracy: Women Participation in the Election of the Villagers'' Committee——Take Caocun Village of Henan Province as an example |

Abstract Through the description and analysis of the election in villages, this paper points out that although the election of villagers' committee ensures the women's democratic right and improves their competitive sense, it strengthens men's manipulation of rights, which results from the phenomenon that the traditional cultural idea of men's right deprives women's opportunity of participating in the political matters and that the marginal position of the Women's Federation in the structure of rights in villages weakens the influence of women cadres. To change their weak position in elections, the equal status of sexual culture needs to be created; right shall be entrusted to the Women's Federation and protective policies shall be carried out among women at present.
