Abstract The causes of continuous low prices in Wuhan are: the entry to the WTO; the increase of laid off persons, the lowering confidence in consumption; the declining of stock prices; the slow increase of farmers' income and heavier burden on farmers. This paper thinks that more attention should be paid on the "specific characteristics" of the low prices: the economic status of Wuhan in the whole country is falling; the banks are unwilling to loan; private economics doesn't develop enough; the proportion of export oriented economics is low; the strength of brand economics is weak. The solution to Wuhan's going out of the continuous low prices are: 1.developing education industry; 2.making state owned economics and private economics develop together; 3.building up new consumption hotspots among the middle class and rich class; 4.strengthening competitve industry.
