Abstract The multi-culturalism and minority discourse theory are hot subjects in current world literary studies. The Blues Vernacular Theor y set forth by Houston A. Baker, an Afro-American literary criticist, is a sign ificant mark for the generational shift and transformation of Afro-American lit erary criticism. This paper illustrates the basic definition, cultural philosoph y and aesthetic dimensions of Baker's Blues Vernacular Theory.
