Abstract There was a cultural diversion from contest evolutio ni sm to mutual aid evolutionism which made a great influence on the history of mod ern China. The article expounds the root of the cultural diversion from the pers pective of national cultural mental interests and traditional Chinese culture, a nd it discusses the phenomina of cultural return during the communication of cul tures.
