| Ba Culture and Formation of Ba Chu Culture in the Pre-Qin Dynasty |

Abstract Ba was an ancient state with magnificent civilizat ion , which located in the upper reaches of the Han River in the Shang, West Zhou dy nasties and the the Peorid of Spring and Autumn. The culture of Ba state was different from the cultures in Ba districts which distributed over east Sich uan and west Hubei until the Peri od of Warring States. It was the Period of Warring States for the two cultures t o merge into one organic whole. Ba Chu culture was a district culture distrbuted through the upper reaches of the Han River, east Sichuan and west Hubei, where was the former territory of Ba state but seized by Chu state in the middle Perio d of Warring States. Ba Chu culture was the result of the exchang for a long-te rm between Ba and Chu cultures in the land.
