| Study on the Causes of Yuan Mei''''s Being Transferred from the Bureaus of Study and His Declining of Qian Long''''s Coming to Suiyuan |

Abstract Yuan Mei was transferred from Hanlin Bureaus to Jiangnan as country magistrate, which has many causes. The first one is that his mark was the worst in Qingxue, and he wrote QingShuo before etc. But Yuan Mei thought it was because of Qian Long's force. He retired at the age of 33 years old. In fact,it was related to his disappointment to Qian Long. So when Qianlong went to south patrol again, Yuan Mei refused Yin Jishan's opinion about repairing Suiyuan in order to wait the arrival of the Emperor. From the perspective of his moral courage, Yuan Mei is worthy of study who kept the independent personality in the late period of Feudal Age.
