| Empirical Research On Chinese People''''s Attitudes Toward Democratic Political System --Talking With Professor Russell J. Dalton On "Non-response" |

Abstract One can draw a different conclusion when he/she ignored the non-response or not.Some scholars argue,based on the "World Values Survey" data,that 96% of Chinese support democracy when they ignored the non-respondents.However,analyzing the same data,this study reaches different conclusion.One must not ignore that about one fifth of the respondents answered "do not know" in the survey.Moreover,among those who claim to support democracy,42% accept non-democratic political systems as well.Logistic regression shows that these groups of people should be distinguished from those who only support democracy.Empirical evidences indicate that the above two groups are major supporters of the existing political system.
