Abstract This paper begins with an analysis of the historical background and the source of Mao Ze-dong's popular aesthetics of the reader consciousness in "Yanan Speech";Moreover,the paper gives a simple comparison of the reader consciousness between Mao's literature and art theory and the reader-oriented theory;At last,it illustrates that Mao's reader consciousness is the combination of Marxism and the real situation of China.
