Abstract That moral education should go back to life and that the educational function of life should be exerted have been a consensus in the theoretical circles.Life education is an important notion in the new standard of moral education curriculum. But after making a comprehensive survey of the present researches, the paper thinks that it is necessary to probe into the category of life, and that life education should be emphasized not only due to the defects of the life-deviated or non-life moral education, but also because of the innate and ontological link among moral, moral development and moral education, and because of the unique and elementary standing of life education compared with other educational means as well. The purpose of this paper is to express the idea that life is the essential and irreplaceable measure for moral education through an analysis of the concept of life and a deep expounding and generalization of the inherent relations between life and moral education.
