Abstract The present paper,by resorting to the examples of divination by means of milfoil illustrated in Zhouyi(The Book of Changes) and employed in Zuozhan and Guoyu, discussed the possible psychological tendencies while practicing divination, namely, the inclination before the divination;the psychology of selecting the favorable and abandoning the adverse after the divination;that of arbitrariness in choosing the images and in interpretation;that of straining the interpretation by false analogy;that of being persuasive by using divination and interpretation of it.
