Abstract The carnival spirit,which demonstrates the irrationality of human being,and the rationality are interweaved in the development of the human culture. Their relationship is dialectical,they are both contradictious and united;The carnival spirit is a temporary liberation from the boundage of rationality,but without the boundage of rationality it could not explode so violently;The subversiveness and sociality could challenge rationality and make it to self-reflect and improve itself,but the negative effects of the carnival spirit needs to be cured and refitted by rationality.
