| The Mentalities of Shanghai Capitalists and Their Performance in the course of Socialism Transformation |

Abstract Superficially the Shanghai capitalists were first supportable at the CPC's general line for the transition period and actually resentful.Because of the contradictory feelings,they were passive in business to oppose the transformation.To counter this tendency,the local government of Shanghai strengthened to publicize the Party's general and specific policies and to develop the united front working.After listening to Mao Ze-dong's talk(about capitalists' historical fates) in 1955,the Shanghai capitalists begun to submit to the arrangement of the public-private joint and emerged in large numbers of advanced elements.The Shanghai capitalists' mentalities development of suspicious,contest and submission illustrated their contradiction and depression,helplessness and struggle,utility and rationality in mind,but they accepted socialist transformation at last.
