Abstract Both Chinese Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism advocated the concept of fusion of exoteric Buddhism and esoteric Buddhism in the Republic of China period. Although there were some differences in the concept of fusion between Chinese Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism，there were common value appeals： promoting the equal exchange of Chinese-Tibetan culture，completing the modernization of Buddhism in China and realizing the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. All these thoughts have played a positive role in developing Buddhism culture in China，improving the relationship between the Han and Tibet nationality and promoting the ability of governing the border areas.
