Abstract In the history of western philosophy， it was Heidegger who first introduced media into the research field of philosophy.He distinguished being and beings on the basis of ontology philosophy， highlighting the distance between being and the world，and made an ontological inquiry into the technical media which connected being with the world.Difference from the communication study centering around the study of media functions and media itself， Heidegger’s thought of media ontology made metaphysical analysis of media from the media generative point of view， which opened a new field for the study of media，and benefits to the retrospection of contemporary media functionalism.
