Abstract The local community is a political ethical thought by MacIntyre to deal with the challenges of modernity. Because the lack of moral political reality, MacIntyre believes that only the local community can save modern morality and civilization. The local community embedded in a social network of giving and receiving. The structures of giving and receiving are emphasizing their dependence on human. Therefore, the members of the community are strengthened the identification and pursuit of the common good. The local community rejects the capitalist system and the sharing of ideas that embodies the basic task of socialism, but also highlights the core values of the socialism. Although the local community is an imperfect political model, but MacIntyre regulated a socialist way for the modernity, it is worth thinking and learning.
