Abstract The rise of the new realism， focusing on representing the social reality of China during the period of the total Counter-Japanese War， led to its leading position in Western painting teaching， which drove the deepening of the exploration of the sinicization of Western painting. At the same time， it triggered the practice of nationalization in other fields， changed the condition of pre-war professional art education and continued its previous business and influence during the post-war period as an important force in professional art teaching. The nationalization of professional art education has had a tremendous historical impact on the concepts， methods and practical paths of professional art education in the middle and late 20th century.
