Abstract Le Roman de I'Homme Jaune is a novel written by Chen Jitong in the late Qing Dynasty based on the Tang legend Biography of Huo Xiaoyu. It is called “a novel of the late Qing Dynasty with real modern significance” by Mr. Yan Jiayan. From Le Roman de I'Homme Jaune and Biography of Huo Xiaoyu, we can clearly see differences in the characterization, narrative skills and emotional style between the two novels. It has important reference significance for us to observe the modern transformation of Chinese novels. As a novel about Chinese theme written by a Chinese writer in French, the positioning of Le Roman de I'Homme Jaune in literature history also draws much attention from a lot of researchers.
