Abstract Invovled in the wave of modernization development， the pursuit of interests takes on increasingly obvious differentiation and individualization. With the disintegration of the traditional reciprocal community network， individual villagers who are atomized can hardly bring into being collective actions. Under the background of promoting rural governance and revitalization， it is necessary to reshape the village community. Rural traditional culture， which comes from the practice and affects the development of rural society， is greatly inspirational and binding. A community formed with such bond is most profound and closest to the villagers. we should recognize and explore the modern value of traditional culture， pay attention to its strong vitality and important position in the functioning of rural society， and attach importance to the role of folk customs in promoting social solidarity in rural area. By picking out traditional cultural undertakings with “local” attributes， by means of such functions as role transition， social bonds， and feedback adjustment in traditional funeral rituals， we can provide public domain， identity foundation， and orders and norms for reshaping the village community so as to enhance internal cohesion within rural society. Formation of village community promote integration of rural society， enhance villager’s interest and engagement in public affairs， and provide a fundamental guarantee for better joint governance by multiple entities in rural area.
