| Re-Understanding the Nature of Axiology |

Abstract After 40 years of the study of axiology in China， it is necessary to reflect and examine the disciplinary nature of axiology. As one of the main branches of philosophy， axiology studies the value phenomena and value problems of nature and society， reveals the general nature and essence of value， as well as the law of human understanding and realization of value， and expounds the stipulations of the value world and its significance to human beings.On this basis， axiology should also provide the society with an ideal social value system and its construction scheme， answer the major value problems in human life， and establish axiological principles for human life.Axiology can be divided into three parts： theoretical axiology， practical axiology and meta axiology. Its mission is to tell people what is the real value， what is the highest value， that is， the supreme good， and how to realize the value and gradually approach the supreme good.It provides people with the belief of the supreme good， regulates and guides human value activities， provides the society with the value system and its construction scheme， and guides human beings to continuously pursue and build a better living world. The research method of axiology is mainly philosophical speculative method， but it also needs to learn from the methods of other disciplines to study value problems. There is a close and complex relationship between axiology and the branches of philosophy that study the normal value problems in different fields.
