Abstract Based on the analysis of the CSS2019 data, this study examines the complicated relationship between people’s sense of social justice and political participation in different dimensions. In diagram, the relationship between Chinese people’s overall sense of social justice and different behaviors of political participation resembles a U-shape. Statistically, there is a significant negative correlation between people’s sense of social justice and non-institutionalized political participation in communication,in contrast to a significant positive correlation between people’s sense of social justice and institutionalized community participation and institutionalized election participation. Emotional factors and rational factors coexist in people’s behavioral choice and willingness of political participation, the effect and sequence of which are determined by the individual behaviors and perceptions in different social contexts. However, even affected by emotional factors, the public still hopes to participate in political life in a fair social environment. In the dimension of economy and social security, the relationship between the sense of deserved social justice, the sense of needed social justice, and political participation is still unclear.
