Abstract：Two parameters are proposed to characterize the degree of hard or softof multiparticle production processes in high energy collisions. They are the ratio of number of particles in jets to total numberof particles in the whole event and the ratio of transverse energy in jetsto that of the whole event. These two parameters are compared andanalysed using Monte Carlo event sample. Their possible applications arediscussed.
