Abstract:A method for calculating fundametal matrix elements in the truncated shell model state space is presented. The basis states are constructed from nucleon pairs, where the pairs are distributed over several nondegenerate orbits, and favored pairs coupled to angular momentum J=0 + and 2 + are considered.
